The United States Information Agency has amended the J-1 Skills list and, at the request of the government of the Czech Republic, retroactively removed the country from the list. This means that persons already here on J-1 visas or who were serving or subject to the home residency requirement, no longer need to comply with the home residency requirement.

Also, in the case of all governments which have requested removal from the skills list, the USIA amended its regulations to state that citizens of those countries are retroactively no longer required, on the basis of the skills list, to comply with the two-year home residence requirement of 212(e) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
