Dear Readers:

We have just returned from the annual meeting of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and, as we have done in previous years, we are presenting a special issue covering some of the more important information we learned at the meeting.

This year more than a dozen of our lawyers attended the meeting and each reported the same general observation – because of September 11th, immigration is getting tougher and more complicated and the agencies with which we work are getting less flexible. Denial rates are going up and requests for evidence are becoming normal in several visa categories. In short, immigration lawyers have to work harder and the results are still not as good as they were before.

On Friday, we will return to our regular publication schedule.

Kind regards,

Greg Siskind
